Structure fire in Palm City
At 11:58 p.m. Feb. 22, the Martin County Fire Rescue received a 911 call reporting a mobile home was fully involved in fire in the 4000 block of S.W. 83rd Street in Palm City.
Fire rescue crews arrived on scene to find a single-wide mobile home on fire. Florida Power and Light de-energized the electrical grid to the area to prevent arching overhead powerlines from threatening fire crews.
One occupant of the home was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to provide assistance to the family.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time. The Florida State Fire Marshal and the Martin County Fire Rescue's Fire Prevention Bureau are investing the cause of the fire. The power was restored to the area around 1:30 a.m.
Additional charges added to voyeurism case
Michael Girard, a custodian at Pine School who was arrested in October 2012 on charges of video voyeurism, now has had 10 additional charges added.
According to reports, Mr. Girard placed his cell phone in the ceiling tiles of the girl's locker room at the school. The students discovered the phone and alerted school officials.
Since Mr. Girard's arrest, law enforcement has been able to recover a different deleted video from his phone, depicting the same students in the locker room.
The recovered video took place earlier in the school year before the Oct. 1, 2012 incident. Based on the new video evidence, the additional charges were added.
