SUNTREE -- The "2013 LEAD Brevard Leadership Awards" will recognize several Brevard residents who have made a positive impact on community through leadership and community service.
The event, which will be on Friday, March 1, at the Studio Theater at the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne, will feature the ninth annual "4 Under 40 Recognition," an event that honors those in the community, while also recognizing the 2013 recipients of the "Rodney S. Ketcham Leadership Icon Award" and the "Leadership Brevard Distinguished Alumni Award."
From more than 50 nominations, the "4 Under 40 Recognition" has been narrowed down to 12 finalists based on members of the Brevard community, who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or in their profession, organizers said.
"This ninth annual leadership awards recognition is a chance to take a minute to celebrate the breadth and depth of leadership in our community," said Kristin Bakke, president and CEO of LEAD Brevard. "They represent some of the highest commitments to leadership that we can all be proud of. They are a group of talented and dedicated leaders, who, like those before them, give much of their time and talent to make our community a better place to work, live and play."
Ms. Bakke said all 12 finalists will be recognized at the ceremony, and the final four will be announced the evening of the event.
Also, at this year's event, Bernard W. Simpkins will be presented with the "Rodney S. Ketcham Leadership Icon Award." Michael H. Williams of MH Williams Construction Group, Inc., and a graduate of a 1991 Leadership Brevard Program, will be presented with the "Leadership Brevard Distinguished Alumni Award."

Travis Kerr of Architects in Associate Rood, Zwick & Kerr, Inc.; Tiffany Nail of the Kennedy Space Center; Amar Patel of Brevard Achievement Center; Julie Roslin of EDC of Florida's Space Coast; Alex Rudloff of TED Conferences; Sarah Soliven, a student at Melbourne High School; and Richard Wilson of Endeavour Elementary.
