Music Fest sound will flood the The Canal Street Historic District and Marc Monteson Promotions present The Downtown Music Festival in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, March 2, in conjunction with the monthly Art Stroll along Canal Street and Gallery Walk on Douglas Street.
Great art will share the spotlight with various styles of music from 23 acts to be heard at 16 venues, including Christmas Park, on sidewalks and indoors from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Start the day at 9 a.m. with Patrick Sammy at the farmers market and Jazz for Breakfast at Jason's Corner with legendary guitarist Ted Connor and Ron Gilotti, 9 a.m. until noon. Carolyn Nicely plays at the Stargazer stage on Sams Avenue from 11 a.m. until noon.
Performing at Christmas Park will be "Saltwater Soul'' with Bob Thames at 10 a.m., Mark Hodgson and Friends at noon, Linda Cole Trio at 2:45 p.m. and Lionheart at 4:30 p.m.
Other venues include outside 417 Canal St. (future home of Carafe Wine Bar) with saxophonist Jaime Hollis at 11 a.m. and Elisa Wood at 1 p.m., Sitarick at the Healing Zone at 515 Canal St. at 11 a.m. and noon. Little Drug Co. Luncheonette with Bob Kissell doing rock and blues on guitar and vocals starting at 11:30 a.m.
At the Museum of History, the Latin guitar duo of Lahiri and Rios will entertain from noon to 1:30 pm. The HUB will showcase Joe Atti at 11 a.m., and in the evening, Paul Scott and Humberto Wilkes will perform at separate times.
Mary Cuchetti will sing and play keyboards outside Southern Trends Home Furnishings from 12:50 until 2 p.m. Rueben "Lounge Lizard'' Morgan, singer/ guitarist will be positioned outside The Wiley Building at 235 Canal at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. plus Rhonda Patrick will entertain at that same venue from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.
The popular local group The Pirates anchor down at Malony's Oyster Bar from 6:30 till 9:30 p.m.
Over on Douglas Street, The William Perry Duo will perform at Arts on Douglas from 4 to 7 p.m. Next door at Clay Gallery, gypsy jazz will be heard from The Cook Trio at 5 p.m. CJ Meinke and JJ Martin will entertain separately at The Nest on Live Oak Street, Mr. Meinke at 5:30 p.m. and Mr. Martin at 7:30 p.m. to close out the evening.
Also that day, the Water Wise Garden Fair event, sponsored by The New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission will be in the commission's parking lot at 200 Canal St.
