"To those who enjoy Wisteria and sunshine ..." -- an enigmatic advertisement in the Times throws the life of two middle class English women into unrest as they plan a holiday to the Italian seashore without the knowledge of their husbands.
Such is the story of "Enchanted April," Shoestring Theatre's next play set for March 8-24.
"This is a play about finding a renewed sense of self and life after the grief and loss of the war," said director Darlene Stewart.
These women find new friendships and discover new things about themselves and their husbands throughout the play. What might have been a divorce story in modern day becomes a story about saving marriage, relationship and love in this play set in 1922.
It may sound like a "chick flick," but Enchanted April has humor and storyline that will appeal to men and women alike.
Regular admission is $18, seniors are $15, and students are $8. Show dates are March 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, and 22, 23, 24. Curtain time for night shows is 8 p.m. and matinees are at 2:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call (386) 228-3777. Shoestring Theatre is at 380 S. Goodwin St., Lake Helen.
