
Congratulations to the John Carroll High School athletes who participated in winter sports. All four teams, which include boys' soccer, girls' soccer, boys' basketball, and girls' basketball, will be nominated for the Florida High School Athletic Association's Academic Team Champion Award Program.
This program honors teamwork, not only in competition, but also in the classroom. To be nominated for the award, the team must have a mean grade point average of 3.0. Additionally, the top student-athletes in each sport earned a 4.0 GPA.
Congratulations to the Golden Rams teams including boys' soccer, with a 3.596 team GPA, along with Brandon Goldstein, Sean Pena-Ariet, John Sinnott and Matthew Utter, who each earned 4.0 GPAs.
The girls' soccer team averaged a 3.615 GPA and featured athletes Carolyn Back, Sara Charles, Karla Matamoros and Ashley Wegelewski, earning 4.0 GPAs.
The boys' basketball team was led by 4.0 GPA students John McGarry and Jordan Watkins, who helped the team achieve an average GPA of 3.221.
Additionally, congratulations to the girls' basketball team, which earned a 3.5 GPA, and to Lauren Kenney, for earning a 4.0.
John Carroll High School is proud to nominate teams every quarter for their exceptional student athletes. Last year the school nominated nearly every sports team, and this year the school is proud to do the same.
