Daytona State to conduct open auditions for 'Summer and Smoke'

The Mike Curb College of Music, Entertainment and Art at Daytona State College will conduct open auditions for "Summer and Smoke," a Tennessee Williams' play, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, and at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25. Callbacks (if necessary) will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. Auditions will be in the Gillespy Theater at the News-Journal Center, 221 N. Beach St., Daytona Beach.

Participants should prepare a one-minute monologue and may also be asked to do cold readings from the script.

Rehearsals will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. two to four times a week and on Saturdays.

Bring pencil/pen, list of conflicts, class schedule, headshots and resumes.

Production dates for the play are May 1-5 in the Gillespy Theater.
