Learn how to grown Shiitake mushrooms

Lindley's Nursery and Garden Center will host a seminar on growing Shiitake mushrooms from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1232 Canal St., New Smyrna Beach.

New Smyrna Beach to host second Economic Development Summit March 2

Updating the City's Economic Development Plan is a priority for New Smyrna Beach leaders.

To garner input, the city will host its second Economic Development Summit from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 2, in City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 210 Sams Avenue, New Smyrna Beach.

Amy Evancho, CEO of the Florida Economic Development Council Inc., will be the keynote speaker. She is expected to discuss trends to stimulate and maintain economic viability. Samantha Bishop, Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce executive vice president, and Ned Harper, director of the Small Business Development Center, will facilitate the discussion.

New Smyrna Beach Job Fair set for March 14

New Smyrna Beach will host its second annual job fair from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 14, at the Alonzo "Babe" James Community Center, 201 N. Myrtle Ave., New Smyrna Beach.

Participating businesses will have the opportunity to survey a large number of job applicants quickly and inexpensively during the event. They also will be able to network with other employers and cross-promote their business.

Workers must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Advanced registration is required. The cost is $20 per table. Checks and envelopes should be made out to NSB Job Fair and mailed to New Smyrna Beach CRA Office, 210 Sams Ave.

The free, citywide event is hosted by the New Smyrna Beach Community Redevelopment Agency.
