TREASURE COAST -- The Treasure Coast Community Singers is starting another singing group.
Under the direction of Doug Jewett, TCCS artistic director, and assistant Sarah Bartal, auditions for the new 100-voice children's choir will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 16 at the North Stuart Baptist Church, 1950 N.W. Federal Highway in Stuart.
Children in grades 4 - 8 who love to sing are invited to audition. Singers should be prepared to sing a song of their choice without accompaniment. If selected for the auditioned choir, there will be a membership fee of $75 for the season, which lasts from February to June. Scholarships are available where financial assistance is needed.
The first performance for this group will be as the featured guest of Treasure Coast Classical Singers at their concerts on April 13 and 14. Reflecting on the events in Newtown, Conn., and in memory of the lives lost, they will join with the Classical Choir to sing John Rutter's "Mass of the Children."
The Treasure Coast Children's Choir official debut will be on June 9, the National Day of the Child.
The Treasure Coast Community Singers is a 501(c) 3 organization.
