MARTIN COUNTY -- SKATE-COMP 2013 takes place on March 2 at Rio-Jensen Skate Park at 2151 N.E. Dixie Highway in Jensen Beach.
Participants in this annual skateboard competition will test their skills on the street course, intermediate and beginner bowls. Come on wheels or on foot for activities that include: a raffle for a complete skateboard, the product toss, Eli Reskow Music and the food concession stand by Bloomster Professional Land Surveyors.
Proceeds are for the construction of a restroom and improvements for the skate park. The Rio Civic Club and Martin County X-treme Teen Program host this fundraiser.
The competition starts at 1 p.m. Children five years of age and under enter the gate at no charge. The spectator entry fee is $3 (bring a chair or towel for seating). The $15 competitor fee includes free entry for one parent. Registration for competitors takes place from 9 to 11 a.m.
A Martin County Parks and Recreation Skate Card is required to compete ($10.60 for Martin County resident annual pass, $21.20 for others) along with hard-shell elbow, knee and helmet gear.
Annual skate cards may be purchased in advance from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vince Bocchino Community Center in Langford Park.
First through third place trophies and prizes will be presented to winners in the Regular division age groups 9 and under, 10 - 12, 13 - 15, 16 - 18, and 19 and up, as well as the Advanced Division of 14 and under, and 15 and up. A competitor from each division will win the $50 cash "Best Trick" prizes and trophies.
