Sign dogs up for training classes
Registration begins on Feb. 18 for all classes starting the week of March 4. Cost for six weeks of training is $40, with all registration fees directly benefiting the animals of Indian River County.
Canine students and their pet parents learn basic commands such as "sit," "down," and "stay." Attendees will also learn how to correct bad habits such as leash pulling, door bolting and jumping. Classes use motivational training approaches that are not food reliant.
Classes are held at The Humane Society, located at 6230 77th St, Vero Beach.

Show to focus on history of area
The Sebastian Area Historical Society will be presenting "Historical Findings in the Sebastian-Vero Beach Area" by Harry Tanner and James Kennedy at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 20. This presentation will be held at the North Indian River County Library at 1001 Sebastian Blvd., County Road 512 at Roseland Road in Sebastian. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

Show to focus on blue planet
The Fielden Institute for Lifelong Learning continues with, "This Blue Planet with Alexandra Cousteau" at 4 p.m. on Feb. 21.
The performance begins at 4 p.m. at the IRSC McAlpin Fine Arts Center on the Main Campus in Fort Pierce. Individual tickets are $35. Student and group pricing is also available.
