Larry Babbits, director of the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation in Philadelphia, was at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Holly Hill to announce awards to several local members for lifetime community service. Michelle Zimbler, the local DAV commander, presented the awards, including a Legionnaire of the Chapel to John Kreinest of Holly Hill. Also honored were Gilbert Brown of Holly Hill and Henry "Bucky" Vernoie of Daytona Beach, Legionnaire of the Chapel; Roger Tiffany of Holly Hill and March Schwartz of Ormond Beach, Humanitarian of the Chapel; Father Alphonse G. Esposito of Flagler Beach, Rev. Steve Heath of Holly Hill and Rabbi S. Howard Schwartz of DeLand, Bronze Medallion of the Legion of Honor. The foundation is named for the four chaplains on the USAT Dorchester, which was sunk by a German U-Boat.
