Local front desk supervisor receives two awards in one week
Lauren Harris Keeler is the recipient of one of 2012's Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriots Award.
Ms. Keeler, 25, and the front desk supervisor at the Country Inn & Suites in Port Orange, was nominated by her employee Oscar Acevedo, 22, who is actively serving in the Air Force Air National Guard 125th Fighter Wing.
The Patriot Award is the first in a progressive series of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve awards for outstanding employer support.
Ms. Keeler recently placed in the top 20 of employees of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and received a Golden Crystal Pineapple Award.
She is a single mother of seven-year-old twin boys, Denim James Keeler and Gavin Lee Keeler.
"In honor of my deceased father who served in the Air Force prior to his death, I try to assist the military as much as I can," she said. "I support the Wounded Warriors and Operation Home Front when I can."
Denny's helping to raise funds for fallen officers
Florida area Denny's are hosting the second annual fundraising campaign for Tour de Force, a Miami-based organization that provides much-needed financial support of the families of fallen law enforcement officers.
Participating Denny's and law enforcement officers throughout the state have begun selling $5 kits containing Denny's coupon booklets representing the diner's support for the officers and their courageous service.
In 2012, five Florida officers were killed in the line of duty and through its Tour de Force campaign, Denny's hopes to raise more than $$75,000 for their families.
Denny's also will serve as the title sponsor of the 16th annual Tour de Force charity bike ride, a five day, 270-mile ride from North Miami Beach to Daytona Beach. Beginning April 14, about 500 participants will ride their bicycles up the coast, making periodic stops at cities along the route to help raise awareness for the cause and refuel with complimentary Denny's Fit Fare meals and refreshments.
