HR managers meet

The Volusia/Flagler Society for Human Resource Management will meet at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Volusia Room in the Daytona Beach International Airport.

The speaker will be Mark Nixon, president of Hylant's Jacksonville office.

The program will be on the impact of the pay or play mandate on employers, pay or play calculator and what are businesses next steps.

Denny's helping to raise funds for fallen officers

Florida area Denny's are hosting the second annual fundraising campaign for Tour de Force, a Miami-based organization that provides much-needed financial support of the families of fallen law enforcement officers.

Participating Denny's and law enforcement officers throughout the state have begun selling $5 kits containing Denny's coupon booklets representing the diner's support for the officers and their courageous service.

In 2012, five Florida officers were killed in the line of duty and through its Tour de Force campaign, Denny's hopes to raise more than $$75,000 for their families.

Denny's also will serve as the title sponsor of the 16th annual Tour de Force charity bike ride, a five day, 270-mile ride from North Miami Beach to Daytona Beach. Beginning April 14, about 500 participants will ride their bicycles up the coast, making periodic stops at cities along the route to help raise awareness for the cause and refuel with complimentary Denny's Fit Fare meals and refreshments.

Worksmart MD signs five-year lease

Meyer Industries Inc., operator of Worksmart MD, has signed a five-year lease for Suite 148 of the Tomoka Commerce Center, 1410 LPGA Blvd., according to Ron Frederick and Buddy Budiansky of Prudential Commercial Real Estate FL, who negotiated the deal.

The pair represented the tenant, Tomoka Commerce Center LLC, and the lessees in negotiations for the 7,650-square-foot office suite.

Worksmart MD, which has been at the Cornerstone building for three 3 years, has been growing rapidly in the electronic medical billing industry. The move doubles its office space.

Volusia/Flagler SCORE will conduct a free seminar, "Providing Service Excellence" from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Daytona Beach International Airport.

CVB seeks tourism ambassadors

The Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking community volunteers to serve as official tourism ambassadors.

Tourism ambassadors are needed to welcome visitors at local visitor centers; greet visitors attending conventions and specials events; and to assist the CVB in various special projects and promotional programs.

Bar Association slates seminars

The Volusia County Bar Association will host a series of three seminars for small business owners.

Seminar topics include legal representation, types of entities, contracts, leases, intellection property, employment law and collections.

Business seminars will be at 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 5, April 16 and May 24 at the Holiday Inn LPGA, AutoMall Circle, Daytona Beach.

The cost is $99 for all three seminars or $50 each. Seating is limited. Registration by Feb. 24 is required .

Danealle Marshall earns title agent's license

Southern Title account executive Danealle Marshall has earned her Licensed Title Agent designation from the state Department of Financial Services.

Ms. Marshall has 15 years experience in sales management, training and technology solutions for the title insurance industry. She assists with sales initiatives in the company's five offices, including Daytona Beach-Beachside, Daytona Beach-Mainland, Ormond Beach, Deltona and Winter Garden.

Hospital introduces new rehabilitation managers

Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center has promoted Charlie Brown and Kristen Hanak to rehabilitation manager.

Mr. Brown will be responsible for daily therapy operations of the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Florida Hospital Oceanside's Peninsula Rehabilitation Center in Ormond Beach. Ms. Hanak will be responsible for operations of the hospital's three outpatient rehabilitation facilities: Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach; Peninsula Rehabilitation Center; and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center at The Pavilion at Port Orange.
