PORT ST. LUCIE --
Wendy Minear has been selected CAREGiver of the Year by the Home Instead Senior Care franchise office serving St. Lucie and Martin counties. Ms. Minear received the honor in recognition of her commitment and service to area older adults.
"CAREGivers like Wendy are the core of our business," said Patricia Strickland, owner of the local Home Instead Senior Care office. "Our CAREGivers are the foundation of Home Instead Senior Care and provide the support that helps older adults remain in their homes longer than they otherwise could."
Ms. Minear, an employee of Home Instead Senior Care since 2011, was nominated by the Port St. Lucie staff and other CAREGivers for her commitment to client satisfaction, dependability and her upbeat nature. In addition to her duties as a CAREGiver, Ms. Minear participates in several community service projects such as the Meals on Wheels Strike Out Hunger bowling team, the Walk to End Alzheimer's and Home Instead Senior Care's holiday giving program, Be a Santa to a Senior.
Home Instead Senior Care provides Alzheimer's care and personal care services as well as help with meal preparation, light housework, medication reminders, incidental transportation, errands and shopping.
"Balancing the demands of child-rearing and careers while taking care of their senior loved ones can take its toll on a family," said Ms. Strickland. "Home Instead CAREGivers can serve as a respite to families and help seniors remain independent for as long as possible."
The Home Instead Senior Care office is located at 549 N.W. Lake Whitney Place in Port St. Lucie.
