INDIAN RIVER COUNTY -- The Cultural Council of Indian River County is calling for nominations for the 18th annual Laurel Awards.
Laurel Awards honor outstanding volunteers, business and cultural leaders in the arts. A recipient will be chosen for each of these three awards.
The John Schumann award for business leadership will be awarded to an individual or business who demonstrates outstanding commitment to a nonprofit cultural organization in support of their operations, enabling growth and sustainability.
The Alma Lee Loy award for volunteer leadership will be awarded to an outstanding individual who, as a volunteer, demonstrates selfless dedication to the cultural arts, and devotes energy, passion, time and support of a nonprofit cultural organization(s).
The Richard A. Stark award for cultural leadership will be awarded to an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership in promoting the cultural arts and in providing encouragement, involvement and motivation to others in support of the cultural arts.
Nominations must be made by a member of the Cultural Council or on behalf of a member organization or organizations.
Nomination applications are on the Cultural Council website, www.cultural-council.org or in the Cultural Council office at 2041 14th Ave, Vero Beach.
Applications must be completed and returned to the Cultural Council office by 5 p.m. Feb. 20.
Judges for the awards are the Rena Blades of the Palm Beach Cultural Council, Nancy Turrell of the Arts Council of Martin County and Richard Gabel of the Arts & Cultural Alliance of St. Lucie.
Award recipients will be announced March 12. The Laurel Awards dinner and presentation will be held on April 26 at the Riomar Country Club.
