Youth Volleyball League
Ormond Beach Leisure Services Department has begun registration for its spring youth volleyball league for ages 9-16 (age as of Sept. 1, 2012).
Fees are $43 for residents (proof of residency required) and $64 for non-residents. Registration will take place at the Registration Office, 399 N. U.S. 1.
Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Practices, training and games will be twice a week.
The program will be separated by age and ability. Times will be 5:30 p.m. for younger and/or inexperienced players and 7 p.m. for older and experienced players.
All new players will need to be approved to move into the 7 p.m. group.
Days of the week are yet to be determined. Practices, training and games will be at the Nova Community Center Gymnasium and will run from March 4 through May 10.

Adult Coed Softball League
Ormond Beach Leisure Services Department will conduct its 20th annual adult coed softball league.
The season will run from March 4 to about May 16.
Participants must be 18 years of age. The league will be divided up into two or three divisions, based on the number of teams and diverse levels of play. The team sponsorship fee is $540.
Each team will play a minimum of 16 games, Monday through Thursday at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex, 700 Hull Road off of North U.S. 1. Game softballs, umpires, scorekeepers and awards will be provided.
A pre-season team meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex Office, 700 Hull Road. One representative from each team should be present.

City to hold sport meetings
The city of Port Orange will conduct organizational meetings for men's softball, women 6V6 soccer, women softball and men's basketball, on Tuesday, Feb 12, at the Port Orange gym, 4655 City Center Circle.
The leagues are for men and women 18 years old and older.
The meeting times are:
6 p.m. -- men's softball
6:30 p.m. -- women's 6V6 soccer
7 p.m. -- women's softball
7:30 p.m. -- men's basketball

Baseball and softball registration begins
The city of Port Orange is conducting registration for its 2013 youth baseball and fast pitch softball programs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, at the Port Orange Gymnasium, 4655 City Center Circle.
The fee is $70 for Babe Ruth Youth Baseball and Babe Ruth Fast Pitch softball.
The ages are 7 to 16 for softball and 6 to 12 for baseball.
There will also be a 5-year-old rookie program for $45.
Contact the department for additional information for boys 13 and older.
All non-residents will pay an additional fee of $20.
All ages for Babe Ruth baseball is as of May 1.
All ages for Babe Ruth Fast Pitch softball is as of Jan 1.
The last day to register is Feb. 28.
Sponsors and coaches are needed. A coaches organizational meeting will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 27, at the Port Orange Gym.

Fly-fishing demonstration offered
The Mid-Coast Flyfishers will have Luc Desjarlais give a talk on wade fly fishing the Upper St. Johns River Basin for American shad at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Fraternal Order of Police, 471 Old Mission Road, New Smyrna Beach.
Mr. Desjarlais will describe the river system, the areas the shad migrate to for their spawning season, the water flow and areas of access for some great shad fishing. He will give some background information on the American shad life cycle and movement in the Atlantic Ocean.
Anyone interested in fly-fishing may attend.
