PALM CITY -- The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast's largest fundraising event, Paws and Claws gala 2013, will be held on Feb. 16 from 6-11 p.m. at the Kane Center in Stuart.
This year, guests will be "Dancing Through the Decades" to the sounds of the Solid Gold band, which also will present a dinner- theater show. Featuring the greatest songs from the 50s to today, everyone is invited to come dressed from the decade of their choice and dance the night away.
The event will be emceed by Jay Cashmere, an anchor with NewsChannel 5 and Fox 29, and will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Guests also will have the opportunity to bid on items in the silent auction mall. The live auction, led by auctioneer Elliot Paul from Elliot Paul and Company, will include exclusive items that will make their first appearance at Paws and Claws. Trips to Italy; Scottsdale, Ariz.; San Francisco and wine country; autographed guitars from the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton; and autographed sports memorabilia from Mohammed Ali, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Steve Young, are just some of the items that will be available that evening.
Carol Plato is this year's chairwoman and committee members Karen Spriggs, Lori DesRuisseaux and Jaime Beards are silent auction chairs. Kathy Skrzypczak is serving as the Clawsmopolitan (event program) chairwoman.
The cost to attend is $250 per person and tables of eight or 10 are available for groups.
