BREVARD -- The Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame is now opening a stationary location to recognize Brevard athletes, who have received the honor of being named into the Hall of Fame.

The grand opening ceremony for the Hall of Fame will take place on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Maverick Sports Grill & Bar on Merritt Island.

The event will feature as many as 50 of Brevard's greatest athletes and sports personalities, organizers said.

The event is open to the general public from 6-9 p.m., and Mavericks Sports Grill & Bar will provide an all-you-can-eat meal for guests.

Tom Palermo, a member of the Hall of Fame committee, said the event will also feature the induction of the 2013 Hall of Fame recipients, as well as members of the 2012 Hall of Fame in attendance.

"We consider hundreds and hundreds of athletes and people who are deserving (of the Hall of Fame)," he said. "If they don't make it one year, they will make it another."

There will also be a silent and live auction at the event that will include a variety of unique goods, services and sports memorabilia, organizers said.

All proceeds from the ceremony will go to the Health First Foundation to help fund their programs that promote a healthier community.

Organizers said there are only 250 tickets available at $75 each.

To make a reservation for the event, call (321) 615-8111 or email maverickmultimedia@gmail.com.
