INDIAN RIVER COUNTY -- First Presbyterian Church and various members of the medical community are partnering to create a series of health and wellness seminars during January and February.
The seminars will provide both seniors and family caregivers with useful information about common health conditions such as: cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia, stroke, heart disease and diabetes.
The seminars will be held at First Presbyterian Church, located at 520 Royal Palm Blvd., in Vero Beach, and are free of charge and open to the public.
Here is a list of the seminar subjects, speakers, dates and times:
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, dementia Jan. 24, 10-11 a.m. Speaker: Peggy Cunningham, executive director, Alzheimer & Parkinson Association.
Stroke: Jan. 31, 10-11 a.m. Speaker: Dr. Michelle Ofner, neurologist.
Heart diseases: Feb. 7, 11 a.m. - noon. Speakers: Dr. Arley Peter, cardiologist and Nurse Denise Clark, telehealth coordinator.
Diabetes: Feb. 14, 10-11 a.m. Betsy Root, nutritionist.
Light refreshments will be provided.
