Don Williams, the "Gentle Giant" of country music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Peabody Auditorium.
A hit maker with a commanding presence and rich baritone voice, Mr. Williams has scored 17 No. 1 songs among his 50 major chart-toppers, and he has written hit songs for other music giants including Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Sonny James, Charley Pride, Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend.
Among his biggest singles are "Amanda," "Good Ole Boys Like Me," and the mega crossover hit, "I Believe In You."
In the U.S., he has produced five certified Gold albums; in Canada, England, Holland and Germany his albums have reached Silver, Gold and Platinum levels. Awards include the Country Music Hall of Fame, Academy of Country Music Single of the Year, Country Music Association Album of the Year, Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year and Music City News Country Most Promising Male Artist of the Year.
