TREASURE COAST --
Indian River State College is accepting applications for nursing assistant classes.
Most nursing assistants help with patient care activities such as bathing and feeding.
Nursing assistants work under the supervision of nursing or medical staff to provide basic care in hospitals, nursing homes, physicians' offices, clinics and in-home care. This nursing assistant course is the first step to becoming a licensed practical nurse.
The next nursing assistant course starts Jan. 14 and takes about seven weeks to complete. In the program, students attend class approximately 20 hours per week. Day and night classes are available at IRSC campuses and locations in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties.
In addition to associate and bachelor's degrees, IRSC offers many quick job training programs that enable students to gain job skills in less than a year. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.
