WEST MELBOURNE -- Busy moms and dads: Drop your spatulas and step away from the kitchen. A West Melbourne-based business knows you have better things to do than to spend all of your downtime near the stove.
Leave the food prep up to Mr. Food No-Fuss Meals in West Melbourne. The business' slogan, "Home cooking without the hassle," explains it all.
"I wish this was around for my kids when they were little because my husband and I worked, and I would spend my days off cooking to prepare meals for the kids," said Marcia Potter, who co-owns the West Melbourne franchise with her husband, Alan.
Mrs. Potter said that many busy Brevardians rely on Mr. Food No-Fuss Meals to feed their families. Customers can order meals for a month or simply retrieve food for one evening. The options abound.
"For as little as $22, we will feed a family of four for two nights," Mrs. Potter said. "We have quite a bit of moms as clients, who use us three days a week because of soccer, and engineers who don't have time to spend on cooking."
Mr. Food No-Fuss Meals adds variety to its menu each month, aside from a few regular items that customers won't let the business go without: Bruschetta Chicken Breasts, Chicken Burritos, Caesar Pork Chops and Chicken Patricia.
Mrs. Potter's favorite menu item is the Chicken Patricia, which consists of boneless chicken breasts stuffed with goat cheese, basil and then topped with a roasted tomato-herb spread.
"It's my favorite dish," Mrs. Potter said. "And our burritos are the best I've ever had."
Mrs. Potter opened Mr. Food No-Fuss Meals more than four years ago, after her daughter introduced her to the concept in Boca Raton.
"My daughter gained 30 pounds in two months," she said. "In an effort to help her lose weight, somebody introduced her to to Mr. Food No Fuss Meals. When I saw her five weeks later, she looked great. I asked what she was doing, and she told me she was eating healthy. And when we tried the food, we couldn't believe how good it was."
Ever since, Mr. Food No-Fuss Meals has operated in a health-conscious fashion.
"We don't use cans or boxes of anything," Mrs. Potter said. "We boil our beans, we chop our ham, and we don't buy pre-made stuff because it has too much salt."
As if the Potters aren't busy enough feeding local families, they launched their own bakery two years ago, where they serve up custom cakes, cookies and a variety of baked goods.
Based out of the same location as Mr. Food No Fuss, Heavenly Treats grew from Mrs. Potter's passion for baking.
"I started baking at age 11," she said. "For my birthday, I used to ask for sugar, flour and eggs."
Now, Heavenly Treats attracts more loyal customers with its zucchini bread, Dominican pound cake and empanadas, to name a few.
"My mom, who is 73, is territorial about making the empanadas," Mrs. Potter said. "We use a recipe from my grandmother, who just passed away at the age of 103. It used to be that making empanadas was a family event, and she left us with an amazing legacy: togetherness, God and those amazing empanadas."
Mr. Food No-Fuss and Heavenly Treats is located at 4270 Minton Road, Suite 108, in West Melbourne.
Mr. Food No Fuss Meals delivers, and does not charge a delivery fee for those who are sick or unable to pick up meals.
