Field trip to museum
The Martin County Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will have a field trip to the House of Refuge on Hutchinson Island on Jan. 5 at 8:45 a.m. Park and meet at Santa Lucea Beach.

Sports agent to speak at benefit
Mark Rodgers, who represents professional baseball players, will speak at a Jan. 17 event hosted by The Experts.
Proceeds from the event will benefit M.E.'s Team Foundation, a Treasure Coast nonprofit organization that former player Scott Proctor and his wife, Carrie, founded to improve the lives of children throughout the Treasure Coast.
The cocktail party and dinner is $100 per ticket. The foundation is also selling tickets for a chance to win a specially outfitted Crew Cab Polaris utility terrain vehicle.

Fair to host beauty pageant
The Martin County Fair will host its 54th annual beauty pageant on Feb. 8.
All high school students in Martin County from grades nine, 10 and 11 are eligible to enter the contest.
Registration forms can be printed online at martincountyfair.com or can be picked up at the fair office.
