Nothing there, yet

I am sad that the Delta Queen won't get a new home in New Smyrna Beach. I guess we will have to look at the mess that is over there now and wait another few years before something comes. Sorry, that is a no-no. We should have had it.

It would have looked beautiful going over the bridge onto Flagler Avenue, but another project kicked to the curb.

Re: the response to Land of the Rednecks

I am not really sure what rant this reader read, but the original rant was about how many empty houses are in Florida Shores, people parking their cars, trucks or boats all over their yard. People throwing their trash out their car windows into other people's yards. I am a very big animal lover, any comment made about cats being outside would have been referring to the massive amount of feral cats in the city of Edgewater. My cats never leave the house unless they are in a secure cat carrier. My dogs will be outside in a controlled area. None of my animals run loose. I do hate feral cats and the people who feed them. These are the Rednecks who think they are doing a good thing by feeding cats, which cannot be held or petted. If you look at the laws in Edgewater about cats they are not supposed to be outside unless they are on a leash. Feral cats are a huge problem. If you don't own cats and you have some idiot feeding feral cats, there is a problem. I don't want these feral cats tearing up my screens or using my flowerbeds for their litter boxes. If someone wants to respond to a rant they should probably read the entire rant and what is being said. There are not supposed to be feral cats in Edgewater. They are supposed to be humanely trapped and humanely euthanized. If you have ever had to deal with someone feeding feral cats you would understand.

Too many sea gulls

The park has been taken over by the Sea Gulls as they have completely decimated the bridge with their feces or dropping's whichever you want to call it. The persons visiting the park should not feed the birds as this invites others and sooner or later you will not be able to enjoy the nice walk around the lake. With the addition of the Muscovy ducks which have shown up, it won't take long for residents not to show up to relax or enjoy the beauty of the park.

We now understand that a small group known as the "Park Advisory Board" has recommended and it was approved to erect a "Dog Park" in the same location ... What's up with that? Just recently while visiting the park, we noticed that the feces of a dog was plastered onto the walk around the lake as well as the walk from the lake back to the playground. And now a Dog Park is coming?

Not a lot of thinking goes into these recommendations, is there?

$24 billion for education

This was on my lottery ticket when I purchased it recently. When the lottery was started it was to enhance education. They say every $1 of every $2 spent of PowerBall goes to education.

Why is it them, they keep cutting teachers, cutting programs and closing schools. Tuition for colleges keeps on increasing. Are our schools not part of education? With a solid 12- year school education, then there is no need for colleges. No one will have enough education to qualify for college. Let's find the billions and use it for schools and stop crying and wanting more taxes for real estate.
