New Smyrna Beach -- Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency, announced recently that Linda Vossler, Surgical Services Director of Bert Fish Medical Center, was honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employees serving in the Florida Guard and Reserve.
"The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation's call to serve," according to Judge Greg Holder, Florida ESGR Chair.
"Linda Vossler was nominated for being highly supportive of the Reserve and National Guard by her Army Reserve employee Major Gregory Huggins. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation's Guard and Reserve units."
In his nomination letter Major Huggins wrote, "She has seen three of her top surgical nurses who are members of the reserve deployed a combined 10 years since 2003 (this is my third deployment). The job of maintaining a top notch operating room becomes very difficult during these absences. However, she has always supported us in times of crisis by working her schedule around army requirements that come out at the last minute and encouraging us in every aspect of our service to country. Linda exemplifies what employer support is all about and is a true patriot."
