Business workshop slated
Leadership Brevard will present "Leadership Before Hours: So you really think you want to start a business?" featuring Jim Barfield, president/CEO of Luke & Associates.
The event will take place on Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Indian River Colony Club, 1936 Freedom Drive, Melbourne.
Registration and networking will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the program will run from 8-9 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served.
The event is complimentary for LEAD Brevard and the Young Professionals of Brevard members. Guests are welcome to attend at the cost of $20 each.

Spaced leased for high- end manufacturing firm
Mike Moss of Lightle Beckner Robison has leased 12,000 square feet of space for high-end manufacturing research and development.
Mr. Moss, vice president of industrial properties, represented the tenant, Oak Ridge Micro Energy, that leased the space at 751 North Drive in Melbourne.
The company licenses thin-film lithium and lithium ion, solid-state batteries for industry.
The rechargeable batteries are thinner than common plastic wrap.
The landlord is CIA Developers.

Installation banquet, service award scheduled
The Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its 45th annual installation banquet on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront, 2605 N. Highway A1A, Melbourne.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the banquet program.
The master of ceremonies will be Keith Houston of Crest Cleaners & Laundry.
Recognized as one of the Space Coast's premier professional and social events, more than 200 chamber partners and guests are expected to attend this affair.
The theme of this year's gala is focused around the chamber's 45th anniversary.
The event features the installation of the chamber's 2013 chairwoman, Cindy Dropeski, with Intercoastal Insurance and the new board of directors. The chamber will also recognize its outgoing board members who served terms through 2012.
The chamber's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, will be presented to an individual who has shown exemplary leadership and commitment to the community.
Other special presentations include awards for Council/Committee of the Year, Ambassador of the Year and President's Club inductees.
Tickets are $50 per person for open seating or $750 for a corporate table of 10.
