Basketball academy to begin
DeLand Parks and Recreation will offer the DeLand Drive basketball academy for boys and girls ages 4-15.
Dates for the league are Jan. 15 to March 3. The league is scheduled to operate at the Old DeLand High School Gym and the Chisholm Center.
Cost per child is $45 (plus $3 non-resident fee) for early registration by Dec. 28 and $50 after Dec. 28.
By joining the league, each participant will receive a team jersey, shorts and an award.
Coaches are needed. Register at DeLand Parks and Recreation office, 230 N. Stone St.

Basketball clinics offered
DeLand Parks and Recreation is offering free basketball clinics for youths ages 9 to 15.
Clinics will be Jan 8, 10 and 12. All sessions will be held at the Old Gym at DeLand High School.
Ages 9-11 will be at 6 p.m. and ages 12-15 will be at 7 p.m.
