FORT PIERCE -- On Dec. 15-16, the best in the sport of purebred dogs will flock to Orlando to strut their stuff at the prestigious AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.
Janet Birdsall, CharDognay restaurant owner of Fort Pierce, and her dogs, Malibu Dream (Kenny), She's Just a Little Bit Naughty (Naughty), Your Wish Is My Command (Wishy), Have a Little Faith in Me (Hyatt) and Double Dog Dare You ( Frack), all Havanese, will be among the contenders.
Ms. Birdsall will compete against the top show dogs in the country and some of the finest specimens from around the world. The show will air on ABC on Feb. 2.
The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is the largest prize money dog show in the world, with cash and prizes awarded totaling more than $225,000.
Although prior editions were invitation-only, beginning this year, the event is an open show for all dogs that awards championship and grand- championship points.
In addition to the conformation competition, the show will also feature the AKC agility invitational and national obedience invitational, the bred-by exhibitor competition, the Eukanuba world challenge and celebrate dogs.
