MARTIN COUNTY -- The second-annual "Pars Fore Pink" golf tournament proved to be a tremendous success, raising approximately $46,000 for breast cancer treatment at the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center at Martin Health.
More than 200 golfers participated on two courses at the PGA Golf Club in St. Lucie West. The event was held Oct. 20 during national breast cancer awareness month.
"We are grateful for the support of everyone who participated in this event and is contributing to its continued success," said Corinne Hopkins, chairwoman of the Pars Fore Pink organizing committee.
"Our objective is to continue providing awareness, education and funding for breast cancer care in our community."
The Pars Fore Pink committee has set an annual goal of raising $60,000, with events that include the golf tournament. Since its inception in 2011, Pars Fore Pink has raised a total of $101,674.
