Jim Miller's Big Band America will perform a holiday concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec, 22, at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1.
The Ormond Beach-based band is conducted by lead trombonist and band leader Jim Miller.
Mr. Miller has a storied career as a professional musician as well as being a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. During his professional career as a musician, he has played for six U.S. presidents, and has performed at Carnegie Hall. For over a decade, he was conductor and band leader of the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, one of the best selling and most highly regarded big band jazz orchestras of all time. Under his leadership, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra performed throughout the world, and was featured on television programs including "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
Big Band America's Holiday Concert will include selections from the songbooks of big band jazz bandleaders Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. Also included in the show are special arrangements of beloved holiday songs including "Baby, It's Cold Outside."
Reserved seat tickets are on sale for $15 at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center Box Office from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and two hours prior to all performances.
