Registration opens for winter art classes
The Ormond Memorial Art Museum is registering for its winter classes.
The adult art class Basic Jewelry Skills will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. each Tuesday from Jan. 15 to Feb. 5 at 78 E. Granada Blvd.
Participants will learn how to use the right tools, beads and findings to make their own jewelry designs. All supplies, beads, findings, metals, etc. are included. Tools are provided.
Members' cost is $112.50. Non-members' cost is $125.
Adult art class Drawing with Color will be from 6-8 p.m. four consecutive Wednesdays beginning Jan. 9.
Participants will learn to draw basic still life objects with colored pencils and markers. Creating colors by mixing and blending will be explored. No previous art experience required. Supplies included.
Members' cost is $90, non-members' is $100.
Adult and high school student art class Art Escapes with Watercolor will be from 6-8 p.m. on four consecutive Thursdays beginning Jan. 10. Students with beginner or intermediate skills will gain greater creativity and artistic confidence while exploring watercolor used in a variety of ways. Create interesting moods using color triads. Supplies included.
Cost is $81 for members, $90 for non-members.

Museum of Arts & Sciences announces new trustees and award recipients
The Museum of Arts & Sciences presented awards presentation and installed new officers and trustees Dec. 2.
New trustees for 2013 are Bridget Bergens, Dr. Carl W. Lentz III., Dr. Evelyn Lynn, Eileen McDermott, Bill McMunn and Cory Walker.

The Henry Saltzman Award is granted by the trustees to the person or organization that has done the most to enrich the educational and cultural climate of Volusia County. Congressman John Mica is a dedicated supporter of the arts at the museum and throughout the community.
