ST. LUCIE COUNTY --
The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the St. Lucie County Clerk of the Circuit Court's office a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting.
The 2011 comprehensive annual financial report and 2011 popular annual financial report, "Dollars and Sense: Your practical guide to County Finances" received the highest form of recognition in government accounting.
For the eighth consecutive year, an impartial panel determined the CAFR document met high standards including a "spirit of full disclosure" that communicates the county's financial story clearly.
The popular financial report "Dollars and Sense," received the award for outstanding achievement in popular annual financial reporting for effectively translating complex financial information into an easy to read format.
The popular annual financial report was first created in 2010 to provide a snapshot of St. Lucie County's financial activity and diffuse hundreds of pages of information into a concise and easy-to-read booklet.
The clerk of the circuit court is the constitutional officer tasked as primarily responsible for preparing the yearly CAFR for the St. Lucie County Board of Commissioners.
This complete set of financial statements is presented in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles within six months of the fiscal year end.
